Boston tea party vs. Bosnian coffee :)

October 11, 2010

What ever it is you're doing STOP IT, SHUT UP and LISTEN!!!

I must say, my body is still having some trouble adjusting to the “normal” tempo… I had to remind myself today to walk slowly, to speak Bosnian to my mum, to buy groceries… And, I dare to say it, my theatrical brain is missing the constant annoyance usually known as Zack's camera!!! (there I said it)! Not much happened today, and I think the general rule of the day was “be as lazy as possible”, in my own case at least… My brain absolutely decided to not cooperate with me on anything but mindless chatter and random unrelated things. So I guess, wisdom blogs and display of genius shall come forth some other time!

Anyways, at the very beginning of what proved to be a rather interesting and unexpected journey on almost every plane imaginable, I was quite worried. Group work is usually all about finding common grounds with your partner. So, I got stuck with Amanda “The Boss Lady”, and I must say her OCD and my DRAMA clicked together like parts of a Rolex watch. If “work” was a Rolex watch, than the “fun” part was a Space Shuttle (the one they are yet to invent for colonizing Mars)!  And the most important part is that work and fun were seamlessly part of one another. The one thing I regret though is not taking enough of the pictures of my own...

Now, a bit about the surprising… There was actually a lot that I found interesting, like the tendency to call Andy by his first name, which is more than OK, it brings professors back down to the human scale… Coffee!!! I was surprised by the fact they were surprised that coffee was such a social catalyst for our culture. I wonder how are they going to get used to the coffee back in the States?!? I actually managed to surprise myself as well. By the time I answered the 3rd question starting with “what is that thing there” with “I’ve never been here before” I began to feel like a tourist, shocked that I didn’t know about all those beautiful corners of a city I call home… Given all the “evidence”, the one thing I wouldn’t be surprised about is if someone actually demanded from me to prove my citizenship!

But, in the end, minus the coffee habits, linguistics, passport, nationality, height, weight, hair color and so on, we were just a bunch of architecture students, doing what we do best: Balancing out basic biological needs versus architecture!!! It is what we do best, after all!!!

Cheers
